Robert Hunt, Sobey School of Business alumnus and managing partner and Licensed Insolvency Trustee at Grant Thornton Limited recently went live on Facebook with consumer advocate and personal finance educator Kelley Keehn and Dr. Patrick J. McGrath, a clinical psychologist and co-founder of Strongest Families Institute, for a discussion on how to manage your personal finances and mental health during Covid-19 and beyond. Kelley Keehn, Personal Finance Educator

Kelley is an award-winning and best-selling author of ten books on personal finance and fraud protection. She spent 12 years as a financial professional and for the past 15, has been on a mission for Canadians to Feel Good About Money as a personal finance educator. 

She currently travels across the country speaking to some of Canada’s largest corporations. She has made thousands of radio and TV appearances around the globe and is the finance educator for the MARILYN DENIS SHOW. She was a regular contributor for CNBC in New York, a nationally syndicated columnist with CBC Radio, and host of BURN MY MORTGAGE. Kelley has also written many columns and published articles as a weekly columnist for The Globe and Mail, Tangerine Bank, and Meridian Credit. She’s also been quoted in O, The Oprah Magazine.

Dr. Patrick J. McGrath, OC, Ph.D., FRSC, FCAHS

Dr. McGrath is a clinical psychologist, scientist, senior health administrator and social entrepreneur.  He currently is Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry, at Dalhousie University and Scientist at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Chair of the Board of Strongest Families Institute and Founder and CEO of 90Second Health. His research focuses on two areas:  the use of technology to deliver care and pain in child health. He develops interventions and conducts pragmatic randomized trials to evaluate the interventions. 

He has published over 350 peer-reviewed papers, 50 book chapters and 14 books. He has received numerous national and international awards and recognitions for his research, mentoring, advocacy and leadership.

Robert Hunt, Managing Partner and Licensed Insolvency Trustee

Robert is the Managing Partner of Grant Thornton Limited’s Consumer Insolvency practice across Canada. He is featured as an expert within The Sobey School of Business Community Revitalization & Prosperity Network.

Rob has worked in the insolvency industry for over 25 years, splitting his time between helping individuals with overwhelming debt get a financial fresh start and helping companies from diverse industries—ranging from manufacturing and retail to fishing and forestry—overcome their financial challenges.  Robert also spent 10 years in lead finance and accounting roles with a publicly traded company and an international firm of consulting engineers.

Robert has a Bachelor or Commerce from Saint Mary’s University, is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional, a Licensed Insolvency Trustee and is a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada.  He has served as President of the Nova Scotia Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals, President of the Atlantic Chapter of the Risk Management Association and board member of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals.

In 2018, Rob was awarded a Fellowship by the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals for his commitment to the Association and the insolvency profession.

Rob is also passionate about helping his community. He is a board member and treasurer of the Strongest Families Institute, which helps families with children experiencing mental illness and behavioural issues.  He is past chair of the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia after having volunteered in several other roles.

Rob is married to Krista and they have two children who have recently started their professional careers.
